What is Pellevé?
Pellevé nonsurgical skin-tightening treatments use radiofrequency energy to stimulate collagen production, which in turn plumps the skin and helps minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Doctors recommend a series of at least three to five monthly treatments, for optimal skin tightening and wrinkle reduction results. It can be performed in-office by a doctor or a certified technician.
What are the benefits of Pellevé?
The skin rejuvenation treatment is completely noninvasive and doesn’t require any downtime.
There are two sizes of the device, one that’s suitable for the face and neck and a smaller one that’s used to treat more delicate areas around the eyes and mouth.
Radiofrequency treatments can be used on all skin tones, without risking hyperpigmentation.
It’s painless. Some patients even say it feels like a warm massage.
How does Pellevé work?
As aging causes collagen fibers to break down, skin loses firmness and elasticity, leading to facial wrinkles, skin laxity, and sagging. Pellevé transmits radiofrequency energy across the surface of the skin, heating the skin to 40°C (104°F). At this temperature, a healing response is triggered that boosts the rate of collagen production and cell turnover.
How should you prepare for a Pellevé treatment?
While the process is straightforward and complications are rare, there are some guidelines to follow prior to having a Pellevé skin-tightening treatment.
Avoid excessive sun exposure for several weeks ahead of time.
A week in advance, stop using skin-care products that contain vitamin C, glycolic or salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, or retinoids (which can increase skin irritation).
If you’re on antibiotics, let your provider know. Some cause photosensitivity, so you may need to wait two weeks after your last dose.
The day before your treatment, hydrate as much as you can.
Don’t wear makeup or apply moisturizer the morning of your appointment.
When will you see Pellevé results and how long will they last?
Your skin may tighten a bit immediately from the collagen contracting—but you’ll see the biggest benefits from Pellevé over the coming months, as a result of continued cell turnover and increased collagen production.
The body’s response can take six months to produce the maximum collagen and tightening. The results may last for a few years.
Providers recommend follow-up treatments once or twice a year, to maintain your results.
